Saturday, October 10, 2020 | 10am – 2pm
This month’s Second Saturday event features the Wurst Barbecue Cookout and the Niaulani Forest Fair!
The goal of the Forest Fair is to promote the variety of Hawaii’s indigenous plants. Through VAC’s native plant propagation program, native Hawaiian plants are available for residents to purchase. Plants including ʻōhiʻa lehua, kōlea lau nui, hāpuʻu pulu, maile, palapalai and many others can be purchased online and picked up on Saturday, Oct. 10th.
Orders placed online will be made available for pick up beginning at 9am and in the order in which they are placed. You will be called to schedule your pick up time. Plant pick up will take place in the Sculpture Garden at Niaulani. Plant sales not pre-ordered will be made available for purchase in person beginning at 10:30am.
Social distancing, mandatory mask wearing and other CDC guidelines will be practiced.
The Best Wurst Barbecue Fundraiser Cookout will take place in the parking lot of Niaulani. Plates will include a sampling of Bratwurst and Kielbasa sausage on a bed of sauerkraut with a side of German potato salad, dessert, and a beverage for $20.
This once-a-month event, designed to showcase the many things to do in Volcano, is sponsored by Experience Volcano Hawaii, will include specials at local restaurants, Lava Rock Cafe, Kilauea Lodge, food trucks and shops such as Volcano Winery, Akatsuka Orchid Gardens, and hula performances and art demonstrations, available free to the public.
