Vietnam veteran and artist, Greg Henkel started a small family-run business after successfully completing a rehabilitation program for war veterans and receiving a grant. He wanted to follow his passion for art as well as provide for his ‘ohana. He invested in sandblasting equipment and began creating. His first creation was smooth ili ili, river stones, that had tribal faces carved into them. That is how the business name Stoneface originated.
Each Stoneface piece is created individually using a variety of mediums. All the original designs are influenced by the sacred landscapes and ecosystems that surround us in our home, the Hawaiian Islands. As a ‘Ohana of artists, each of us contributes to the collection of designs.
