‘Ohe kapala is an ancient Hawaiian practice of carving bamboo stamps used to adorn kapa
fabrics. Many of the carvings tell a mo‘olelo or story. Kapa design was one way stories,
knowledge and history was passed down before pen and paper was introduced to the islands.
