Jazz in the Forest: “Swingin’ into Spring” featuring JP Thoma & Asha Azama
Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 5:30pm
“Swingin’ into Spring” at Volcano Art Center’s “Jazz in the Forest”. JP and the Jazztones will present a panorama of spring, beginning with a classic Japanese meditation evoking the sea in springtime Haru No Umi. We will spring Haru No Umi to life on soprano saxophone and keyboard. Jean Pierre Thoma and Asha Azama will transport us to distant places and times. The Jazztones will be featuring the great band of regulars including Brian McCree on bass and Russell Lundgren on percussion, with Asha Azama contributing vocals. Parker Smith will begin the second half of the program with his excellent vocal and piano jazz renditions of “Blue Skies” and “Just the Two of Us”. Additionally, we will woo you with songs of love and appreciation for the season, and each other with various compositions bringing to mind and heart emotions – “Isn’t She Lovely” , “Satin Doll”, “What You won’t do for Love”.
Tickets are $25 for VAC members ($30 non-members)! Ticket holders will be able to purchase beer, wine, as well as pupus.
