The Volcano Art Center announces Hana a mixed media exhibition of anagama ceramics by Clayton Amemiya and encaustic paintings by Kevin Diminyatz at the Niaulani Campus (19-4074 Old Volcano Rd.) in Volcano Village. Opening on Saturday, August 20 and continuing through September 9, 2022, the exhibit will be on display Wednesday-Sunday, 10am-4pm. An opening reception with the artists will be held Saturday, August 20, from 2-4 pm.

The word Hana can be translated in both the Hawaiian and Japanese languages. In Hawaiian the word means “craft” or “work”, while in Japanese it translates to “flower”.

Clayton Amemiya and Kevin Diminyatz both share a love for Japanese art and culture. The “Hana” exhibition will showcase each accomplished artist’s current “work” combined with the beautiful tropical flowers that Clayton grows at his home in mauka Hilo.
