Hula Voices featuring Dr. Noe Noe Wong-Wilson
The May 3rd program will feature Dr. Noe Noe Wong-Wilson with moderator Desiree Moana Cruz. Dr. Wong-Wilson is Executive Director of the non-profit organization Lālākea Foundation and Project Director of Ka ʻAha Hula ʻO Hālauaola 2018. She is a Hawaiian Hula and Cultural Practitioner and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology specializing in Hawaiian Cultural Anthropology from University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, a Master of Arts Degree in Pacific Islands Studies from University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and a Doctor of Philosophy from University of Waikato’s School of Maori and Indigenous Studies. Dr. Wong-Wilson was the coordinator of the first Ka ʻAha Hula ʻO Hālauaola in 2001 as well as the World Indigenous Peoples’ Conference on Education in Hilo in 1999. She is a long time resident of Hilo and serves as President of the Hawaiian Civic Club of Hilo.
