60inchVolcano Art Center is proud to announce the continuation of the exhibition Quilts in the Forest – Where the Path May Lead at the Niʻaulani Campus in Volcano Village. The exhibit is on display Tuesday –Sunday, now through August 4th, 2018 from 10am -4pm.

The bi-annual quilt show presents 40 quilts by 26 different quilters of Hawaiʻi Island.  The exhibition highlights new and innovative ways of quilting.

The Volcano art Center invites all to the exciting pop-up store with fabric and fiber artists at Hale Ho‘omana at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani campus in Volcano Village.  The artists listed below will provide insight and inspiration to the wonderful world of fabric arts. Nikki Van De Car is an author and fiber artist living in Volcano. From dyeing fabric for quilting to dyeing silk scarves, rayon wraps and bamboo socks, Hana Lima Hand Dyes and Kathy Lukens has been creating fashion accessories for more than 10 years, selling wholesale plus at a few selected fairs around the islands, offering devore silk and rayon scarves, shibori silk scarves, rayon wraps and bamboo socks in a variety of patterns plus ice-dyed fabric in all colors of the rainbow that is perfect for quilting.

Linda K. Sackett, dba Quilts by Linda Sackett,  was born in Hilo, Hawaii, has lived in Volcano for 24 years and has been making Hawaiian quilts for over 45 years. Roberta Muller, master quilter with extraordinary experience in Hawaiian quilts and quilting, will sell work of her own as well as quilting kits. Cynee Gillette-Wenner, of Studio Mingei, will have a selection of ethnic textiles,fiber accessories, and some one-of-a-kind wearable pieces.

Ann Kalber of Indigo Designs offers indigo dyed produces for everyday use.  Each piece is individually designed using many different Shibori techniques.
