Zentangle® Tribute to our Kamehameha Butterfly with Lydia Meneses

Lydia Meneses, Certified Zentangle Teacher

Zentangle: Tribute to our Kamehameha Butterfly: Pulelehua will be held at VAC Niaulani Campus (19-4074 Old Volcano Road), on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at VAC Niaulani Campus, from 10am – 1pm.

Zentangle is an easy-to-learn fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.  At first glance a Zentangle art piece appears intricate and complicated. But when students are guided through the process, some realize how simple it is and how fun and engrossing it becomes.

During this Zentangle art session we are paying tribute to Hawaii’s official state insect, the lovely endemic Kamehameha Butterfly (Vanessa tameamea) also known as Pulelehua. In some cultures the graceful butterfly is used to symbolize healing and transformation.

We will create our butterfly images by using two inspiring Zentangle guides known as step outs.

Student Kit includes: Variety of Zentangle’s paper tiles & tools: Sakura PN black pen, and General pastels pencils.

Class session will be guided with Zentangle’s tradition ceremony and method:

·       Gratitude

·       Appreciation

·       Relaxation

·       Mindfulness and awareness

This class is open to all levels, no Zentangle or art experience necessary.

Students are encouraged to bring snacks/beverages to share.

Cost is $35/$30 VAC members plus a $15 supply and facility fee.
