Keiki Hula Classes

As part of the Liko A’e Keiki Art Program, VAC will offer a 4-week session of introductory hula for
Keiki ages 6-12. During this session, students will learn basic hula movements, steps, and a
simple ‘oli (chant). Through these activities, students will gain an understanding of rhythm and
tempo, and increase their awareness of the importance of hula. Kumu Hula Meleana Manuel
will teach the class.

Kumu Meleana, a lifelong resident of Volcano, is a cultural practitioner and
the leader of Hālau Ke ‘Olu Makani O Mauna Loa.

Introductory Hula is for Keiki ages 6-12. Classes start on Tuesday, October 11 – November 1, 2022, from 3 pm – 4 pm at VAC Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village.

Cost: $100/$90 for VAC members
