This workshop will introduce you to papermaking using recycled heavy weight Arches art paper with local plant materials, dyes and earth pigments. Using a using a household blender and various sized moulds and deckles, you are able to make paper in a variety of sizes, scrolls, layered artwork and create a painting with pulp. Participants are encouraged to bring flowers and plant material to add color, or other interesting things to imbed in their paper.
You will leave with a basic knowledge of papermaking, a variety of papers, pulp sources, and instructions on how to make paper at home. To allow for more paper making time, the instructor will source, prepare and cook plant materials for pulp, dyes and paint, in advance of the class. Plant fibers used in this workshop may include wauke (paper mulberry), ginger, old growth cedar, homegrown cotton bolls and flowers, lemongrass, cane grass, etc. (depending on availability).
