Jazz in the Forest: JP & the Jazztones – Diva Jazz

Please join us on Saturday September 14 at 5:30 pm  at the Volcano Art Center, for an evening of  joyful vocal history of Diva Jazz.

This concert will feature the great voices of Leslis Harlib and Binti Bailey, along with the music of Jean Pierre -JP- and the Jazztones, giving tribute to some of these historic influences.  Beginning more than a century ago with Ma Rainey and Bessie Smith -” the Empress of the Blues”, and continuing through Sophie Tucker, Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, Alberta Hunter, and more, this will be an evening to remember.

The Jazztones in this incarnation will include beside this impressive duo of vocalists,  Leslie Harlib on piano, JP Thoma on saxes and clarinet, Joey Carroll on bass, and Owen Matsui on percussion.

Tickets are $25 for VAC members ($30 non-members)! Ticket holders will be able to purchase beer, wine, as well as pupu. Tickets are available for sale online at www.volcanoartcenter.org, or at VAC’s Administration Office in Volcano Village.
