If you can draw a dot, a line, a curved line, and a circle you can create Zentangle Art.  “Anything is possible one stroke at a time.”™ The only supplies needed are a 3.5 inch square tile, a black micron pen, and a pencil. Our work is abstract and non-representational. It may look like doodling but it is so much more. Rich in metaphor, Zentangle® provides us with a philosophy for life.

The Zentangle Process is a ceremony involving breath, relaxation, gratitude and appreciation. It is an easy-to-learn, fun and relaxing way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. The drawing of repetitive patterns brings us to a state of relaxed focus that some call meditation.

In 2010 we traveled to the mainland to study with Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, the founders of the Zentangle Process. We became Hawaii’s first Certified Zentangle Teachers. We couldn’t wait to get back to the islands to share this work with others. We have been teaching Zentangle classes from our home studio and at the Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus ever since.

As artists of the spirit our focus is on process not outcome. We offer much more than a drawing class. Zentangle Art is empowering. We love sharing this method with people who say they cannot draw. The joy and confidence that is generated is powerful. Our work with trained artists is also rewarding. We become the muse that inspires others to create.
