From beginnings as a student of geography, geology and cartography, Ann Guth explores the natural environment of Hawai’i gathering inspiration for her delicate and vivid paintings.  It is while working on maps that she gained experience, confidence and greater creativity.

She has lived in Hawai’i off and on for over 50 years, residing on Oahu, Maui, and now the island of Hawai`i. She is an award winning artist in the fields of basket making, quilts, drawing and paintings in oils and watercolors. She uses her art to communicate and tell stories of the areas where she has lived and traveled. Her booklet, “Baskets of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands” remains a primary source for that artform.
