About the Artist:
Jane Bonus attended the Art Institute of Houston in 1985, earning an Associate of Applied Arts degree. She currently lives on the island of Hawaiʻi. Jane primarily works in watercolors and has diligently honed her watercolor techniques. Nature serves as her primary source of inspiration, with a particular fondness for depicting animals and birds in her paintings. She captures the essence of animals by focusing on the eyes. Jane has said “The eyes truly are the window to the soul.”
She enjoys to work with a loose and wet watercolor technique and then create the myriad of textures found in nature by adding many layers and then detail. Jane has showcased her work in juried art exhibitions, including local favorites Hawaiʻi Nei and HIAA Invitational and has won awards including International Design Conference in Aspen. Her artistic endeavors currently include creating artwork for greeting cards.
