Yumi moved to Hilo, Hawai’i 10 years ago where she has continued artistic pursuits including watercolor classes with installation artist Kari Ukaji, plein air painting from the oil painter Sakiko Sinkai and woodblock printing with Glenn Yamanoha. Both watercolor painting and printmaking are her current passions in life. She especially loves painting animals and portraits of local people. Yumi also writes film reviews for newspapers on the mainland and magazines in Japan.
