Tuesday Clay – with Monika Mann
, Tuesday  Afternoons 3:30pm – 6:30pm (6 session) beginning Tuesday, May 13, 2025, through Tuesday, June 24th ( no class on June 10th).

Have you experienced the pleasure of putting your own handmade functional pottery into use? All skill levels are welcome to join us at Volcano Art Center’s ceramic studio.

Those new to clay will be guided step by step through the basics of using the potter’s wheel or handbuilding techniques. Continuing students and those with previous experience are encouraged to develop their skills and are welcome to pursue more advanced directions with the instructor’s helpful input. Informal discussion on topics ranging from sources of creative inspiration to various pottery styles and traditions from around the world will supplement this hands-on learning experience.

Open to beginning as well as continuing students. Registration is limited.
Cost for the afternoon session is $180/$160 for VAC Members plus a $20 materials fee for 6 lbs of clay, which includes glazes and firing.  Additional clay available in 6lb increments  for $20 (includes firing and additional glazes).

Handbuilding with Clay with Diane Hanzel Wednesdays (6 sessions) May 14th – June 25th (no class on June 11th), from 3:30pm. – 6:30pm.

Refresh with a new creative outlet at our open and spacious ceramics studio located in a unique rainforest setting at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village. Diane will be teaching strong fundamentals that are the foundation to help see your artistic vision through. You will start with pinch pot bubbles that can take you in lots of different directions. Then moving into slabs and adding textures and basic oxides and glazes. Learn how to manipulate the clay and work with it. Definitely Art from the heart.
$180 / $160 VAC members plus a $20 materials fee which includes the first 6 lbs. of clay (including glazes, firing, labor)  Additional clay will be available for purchase.
