Have you experienced the pleasure of putting your own handmade functional pottery into use? All skill levels are welcome to join us at Volcano Art Center’s ceramic studio.
Teaching artist, Nathan Jugoz, will provide instruction for this class including demonstrations of wheel throwing methods and be available for individualized assistance. Those new to clay will be guided step by step through the basics of using the potter’s wheel or handbuilding techniques. Continuing students and those with previous experience are encouraged to develop their skills and are welcome to pursue more advanced directions with the instructor’s helpful input. Informal discussion on topics ranging from sources of creative inspiration to various pottery styles and traditions from around the world will supplement this hands-on learning experience.
Open to beginning as well as continuing students. Registration is limited.
Cost for the afternoon session is $150/$130 for VAC Members plus a $20 materials fee for 6 lbs of clay, which includes glazes and firing. Additional clay available in 6lb increments for $20 (includes firing and additional glazes.
Open studio time will be available to registered students Monday – Friday, from 10am – 4pm. Cost is $150 per month or $20 per day, You can register at the Administration Office front desk during business hours (10am – 4pm, Monday – Friday) or call 808-967-8222. Must be registered for a ceramics class to participate.
