Pele’s Fire, Lei Humupapa by Robin Escuadro

This lei hulu is named after Pele, the legendary Hawaiian goddess of volcano and fire. It depicts her fiery hot lava flowing through the ohia forest. The red and gold feathers of the golden pheasant represent the lava while the golden feathers of the peacock depict the ohia forest. This is also an example of the never ending battle between the sisters Pele and Hi’iaka.
