Thursday Nights at the Center: “The Magic of Midway- An unveiling of new art by Caren Loebel-Fried”
Thursday, March 3, 2016 | 7 – 9 pm
Please join Friends of Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge (the non-profit group FOMA) for a charity auction and conversation about how a raucous seabird colony and WWII monument inspired artist Caren Loebel-Fried to create the piece, “Midway.”
Caren will share her Midway experience, and Rob Shallenberger, former Refuge Manager, will present photos of historical Midway, and a year in the life of an albatross. A limited edition print of “Midway” and other art merchandise will be available for purchase to support FOMA and the wildlife on Midway Atoll.
This evening is part of Thursday Nights at the Center, an evening series at the Volcano Art Center, focusing on art, Hawaiian culture and our environment. The series is intended to inspire, enhance our art and life experience and foster community connections. The event is FREE, but a $5 donation is greatly appreciated.
On Saturday, March 5, from 11am-2pm, Caren will give a free block printing demonstration on the porch at VAC Gallery in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park.
