Thursday Night at the Center: “Voices: Rising from the Page” Poetry Reading
Thursday, November 3 | 7pm-9pm
On Thursday, November 3, at 7pm, Big Island poets will gather at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus for their presentation “Voices: Rising from the Page”. This is a unique opportunity to hear the poets read their work as they share stories of triumph, sadness, and the range of emotions, which come from the written page.
Big Island renshi poets Mililani Hughes, Bela Johnson, Ma’ata Tukuafu and Dina Kageler will be reading from the cycle entitled “Bloodlines.” Other poets reading will include Kanani Aton, Clint Anderson, Ernelle Downs, and Pualani Johnson.
The evening will also include an opportunity to discuss poetry, a chance to win a copy of the Ho’okupu CD, and to pick up Bamboo Ridge books.
This evening is part of Thursday Nights at the Center, an evening series at the Niaulani Campus of the Volcano Art Center, focusing on art, Hawaiian culture and our environment. The series is intended to inspire, enhance our art and life experience and foster community connections. The event is FREE, but a $5 donation is greatly appreciated.
