Featuring Kumu hula Kaho`okele Crabbe with Halauolaokalani. Joining them will be Roland Cazimero who will be performing his original Pelehonuamea repertoire.
After graduating in 1995 at Puʻupueokapu, Waikane, Oʻahu with traditional ʻuniki ceremonies under his teacher kumu hula Robert Uluwehiokalanionapuaikawekiu Cazimero, kumu hula Moses Kahoʻokele Crabbe founded Halauolaokalani in 1999. He is an educator, advocate and support for our greatest community asset – our beloved keiki o ka `aina. His motto is simple “Aloha trumps everything in man’s world because God is love.”
This performance is part of a year-round series sponsored by the Volcano Art Center. For the series, hula halau from across Hawai`i and beyond are invited to perform each month in a one-of-a-kind outdoor setting at the kahua hula (platform) in the Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park.
This presentation will be presented authentically in an outdoor setting, rain or shine without electronic amplification. Audience members are encouraged to bring sun/rain gear and sitting mats.
We never got a chance this morning to tell kumu how much we enjoyed this morning’s presentation. It was the best, I think, of all those we have driven up to see over the years of Saturdays. Mahalo nui loa for sharing this beautiful mele, oli and hula with us!
