Forest Work Day with Tim Tunison
Fourth Saturday of the Month from 1-3PM
Want to learn about native plants, help restore a beautiful rainforest, and get some exercise? Then you’re invited to join Tim Tunison for a special Forest Workday training from 1-3 PM at the Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village to help restore the beautiful Niaulani Forest behind the Volcano Art Center. This free event is an opportunity for individuals, families, and organizations to connect with nature and each other while helping perpetuate a four-acre species-rich and inspirational old-growth rain forest. Participants will learn the management needed to perpetuate this incredibly unique old-growth koa/ and ’ohi’a rain forest and will be able to join monthly forest work days keeping the Niaulani forest healthy for generations to come. No experience is necessary however registration is required. Volunteers should bring gloves, closed-toe shoes and rain gear in case of wet weather. VAC’s Niaulani Campus is located at 19-4074 Old Volcano Road. To register, contact Volcano Art Center at (808) 967-8222. This program supported by Hawaii Tourism’s Aloha Aina Program.
