Aloha Friday cultural demonstrations are held each week from 11 am – 1 pm on the porch of Volcano Art Center Gallery in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. This week’s offerings include: Lau hala weaving with Mae Castillo
Mae was introduced to ulana lauhala when she moved to Moku O Keawe in 1992. Master weavers Minnie Kaawaloa and Lily Sugahra were my inspirations. I enjoy sharing and perpetuating what I know about lauhala weaving.
These free cultural events are supported in part by Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority. Although these cultural events are free, park entrance fees apply.
