Hawai’i and its natural beauty are the inspiration for Garry Palm’s paintings. His recent work has been of local flowers and historical buildings in and around Hawai’i. Garry‘s distinctive watercolor style draws your attention into the depths of his paintings, letting you explore every detail. From his studio on Oahu, Garry works layer by layer, building his paintings very slowly, sometimes taking 30 to 40 hours to complete an average piece.
His exacting realistic style and attention to detail also work well with another interest of his–portraits. Working in charcoal or pastel from a photograph, Garry captures the subject’s personality, putting it on paper, and holding it there to cherish forever. In addition to having his working galleries on Maui, Kauai, and Oahu, Garry also has his paintings in many private and corporate collections around the world, including Kapi’olani Medical Center, Absolut Vodka, Hawai’i Carpenter’s Union, The Hawai’i State Foundation for Culture and Arts, Outrigger Hotels, Ilikai Hotel, Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company, Norwegian Cruise Lines, GTE Hawaiian Tel, and many others.
