Dear Valued Member of Volcano Art Center,
You may already be a volunteer or a member interested in volunteering. We are inviting you all to our December 3rd Volunteer Meet and Mingle event. If you are actively involved with Volcano Art Center your presence at the event is so valuable as a source of information for others We also want to show our appreciation for all you’ve done as a volunteer.
Listed below is an outline of committees that members are encouraged to join as well as a list of specific tasks for which assistance is always welcomed.
Committees:
- Cultural– This committee promotes programs recognizing our host Hawaiian culture, including hula and cultural workshops and assists during these events.
- Facilities– This committee participates in building maintenance and maximizing current facility use as well as planning for new facilities.
- Budget and Finance– This committee, along with the Chief Financial Officer, oversees VAC’s fiscal management, including a budget and savings plan.
- Forest and Sculpture Garden– This committee conducts monthly weed control and weekly forest and garden tours in Niaulani’s old growth forest and sculpture garden.
- Gallery– This committee provides support for Gallery staff as well as recommendations for Gallery events and activities. Volunteer Greeters during staff lunch hours is an immediate need.
- Love The Arts– Our major annual fundraiser (catered food, live and silent auction) requires a large committee with several subcommittees. The Feb, 2018, theme is “Save the Arts”.
- Membership– This committee communicates with present and lapsed members, recruits new members and suggests membership benefits.
- Entertainment and Music– This committee helps recommend, produce, promote and assist during multi-format concerts as well as Monday Movie Night at Niaulani.
- Programs – This committee supports the Program Manager to recommend, produce, promote and assist during workshops, classes and presentations at Niaulani.
Specific Tasks:
- Ongoing building maintenance support
- (gutter cleaning, window washing, painting, repairs, small construction projects)
- Programs and Events (hosts, bartenders, set-up and breakdown, ticket takers, flyer distribution, decoration, etc.)
- Office Help (Data entry, tracking membership, answering phones, front door greeter)
- Forest and Grounds Improvement (weeding, planting, invasives clearing)
As a longtime volunteer, I can say that being involved with Volcano Art Center is enriching and enjoyable.
