Thursday Nights at the Center: “Into the Light” – An Exploration of Light, Sound & Spirit with Ken Goodrich 

Does a picture stir a forgotten memory: can you hear the waves or the melodic bird songs? Does music create an emotional journey for you?

Utilizing music from many cultures and images ranging from luminescent landscapes to microscopic crystal formations, Ken Goodrich’s presentation “Into The Light”  takes us on a multi-media exploration of the synthesis of sound and light. Each piece is designed to transport the viewer through an intimate emotional passage.

Ken will also speak on the inspirations for his work and share some of the photographic and video techniques he has developed that give form to his unique style of non-narrative light and sound experiences.

Goodrich will present “Into The Light” on Thursday evening, April 14, from 7-9pm at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus.

Goodrich’s career has included design, and the implementation of large scale scenic, projection, audio and lighting systems for live events and televised broadcast, which included work throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin America. In the year 2006 he founded Hawaii Photo Retreat. His career has come full circle to embrace his early love of photography. Currently Ken is focusing on fine art multi-media installations integrating projected imagery and music.

This evening is part of Thursday Nights at the Center, an evening series at the Volcano Art Center, focusing on art, Hawaiian culture and our environment. The series is intended to inspire, enhance our art and life experience and foster community connections. The event is FREE, but a $5 donation is greatly appreciated.
