Hawaiian Sledder, print L85, by Dietrich Varez. Whereas children went sliding on ti-leaf sleds, the aristocracy developed holua, a game which called for specialized sleds and carefully constructed runways. The sled which went the farthest-150 to 200 yards- won. This print tells the legend of Pele challenging a particularly arrogant young chief to a holua sled race.
