Illuminating landscapes, flora, and fauna that are special to the Big Island, Kathleen paints her detailed works of art in quiet and serene tones of green, blue, and grey. She was born and raised in Hawaii and lives in the historic Volcano Village on the Island of Hawaii. Her paintings are inspired by Hawaii Island’s natural beauty and unique environment. Her latest paintings showcase the active volcanoes of Kīlauea and Mauna Loa, as well as the rare endemic plants of Hawaii’s rainforests. Her attention to realism mixed with a play of light and color is reflected in each painting. She has received recognition through the Annual Hawaii Nei Invitational Exhibition and her art has been chosen for the Art in Public Places program of the Hawaii State Foundation for Culture and the Arts.
