A traditional epithet often said by the people of Kaʻū. Commonly attributed to the bloodlines and families of Kaʻū, other traditional uses of the term reference the presence of Pele in this region – and her “red earth.” In their own way, this artist pays homage and lends their imaginative expression to the ʻōlelo noʻeau (proverbial saying), “Kaʻū Lepo ʻUlaʻula”.
