“This is the first eruption of Mauna Loa I have witnessed. I have dreamed of seeing the Mauna erupt since moving to Hawai’i Island over 20 years ago. The eruption was the singularly most beautiful event I have seen. Being able to see and photograph Pele’s magnificent display of power and beauty was a spiritual experience. In the 1st 24-hours of the eruption, I was there long before sunrise on the 28th for 4 hours and returned on just before sunset for another 6 hours.
