“According to the legend, the demigod Maui owned a sacred fishhook named Manaiakalani, with which he set out to catch a magical fish. When the fish was brought up, it would turn into dry land. Maui did this several times, creating the Hawaiian islands. Maui then threw the hook up into the sky, where is now resides.” – Catherine
