By sculpting with layer upon layer of cut paper, Scott Gorrell achieves divine and delicate forms inspired by the flora and fauna specific to the Volcano area of the Big Island.
“Having lived in Arizona, Colorado, Alaska and currently residing in Hawai’i, I have found much inspiration for my artwork. After graduating from the Colorado Institute of Art I worked for several years as a commercial artist in Juneau, Alaska. I’ve worked in pen, brush & ink, watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and oil. Now I work primarily as a fine artist and currently make paper sculptures. I enjoy experimenting with the depth and texture the medium offers.”
