Hawai’i Island artist, Kimberly De Souza, garners her inspiration from the natural world around her.

Directly inspired by the Hawaiian islands, Kimberly takes care to incorporate native flora and fauna into her pieces. She feels it is her mission, as an artist, to create awareness of what truly represents Hawai’i.

Her work explores her love of the ʻāina (land), the sea, as well as the people and creatures that make our islands so unique.

Her block print works are meticulously hand carved and each piece lovingly hand printed. “Nudibranch Parade”, one of her ceramic pieces featuring intricately hand sculpted sea slug wall hangings belongs to the Hawai’i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts – Art in Public Places Collection and is periodically featured in the Hawai’i State Art Museum in Honolulu.

As a naturalist, she aims to raise awareness for current environmental issues, where a portion of the proceeds of her art go to local conservation causes close to her heart.
