As a local grown product of Hawaiʻi, my love for this beautiful ʻāina and her people have blossomed in my latter years. Growing up in the bustle of Honolulu city life, my summers on the Big Island were magical and filled with nature spirits. We would always visit the volcano park where I saw and felt the majesty and power emanating from the womb of Halemaʻumaʻu flowing with Pele’s blood.
My spirit and art have been abundantly nourished from the beauty of this Edenic rainforest environment where I have lived for 35 years. It has been only recently that I have had the time and resources to pursue this expression of joy and peace creating art. Amidst giant hāpu’u from my home in Fern Forest I have watched both mauna’s erupting. Pele’s fiery beauty and power inspired my hula kahiko images of her and her sister Hi’iaka, whose nurturing energy called native forest birds into form and color. This volcanic power of regeneration and transformation has given me an awareness of how life follows nature’s patterns of change and growth.
My hope and intention is to share the beauty, joy and peace of Hawaiʻi through my artwork. Hawaiʻi and her people are my heart, my nature. She moves me to create, cultivate and nurture.
