Hilo based artist, Amy
Markham has been making art since childhood, exploring many expressions of art, including photography, ceramics, watercolor, and oils. In 2007 Markham started an en Plein Aire group to learn about, and focus on that style, and to spend time with other artists interested in en Plein Aire. In 2010, Markham opened a co-operative gallery in downtown Hilo. Today, Markham enjoys drawing en plein air, and some home studio work where she creates abstracts, and mixed media pieces. She participates in local art completions, and shows her work on Hawai’i Island and Oahu. Every Thursday she still paints with the east Hawaii en Plein Aire group she founded, Hilo Plein Aire. Markham holds a degree in Fine Art from UH Hilo.
