Photography Exhibit: Bearing Witness

Volcano Art Center is proud to present Bearing Witness, a photography exhibition featuring the works of Jill Briggs, Cody Yamaguchi, and Bruce Omori. The exhibition will be on view from October 4th to November 9th from 9:00am to 5:00pm at the VAC Gallery in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park with an artist opening on Sunday, October 5th, from 2 to 4pm. This powerful collection captures one of Hawaiʻi’s most extraordinary natural events: the eruptive episodes of Kīlauea Volcano that began on December 23, 2024, and have continued with remarkable consistency. Bearing Witness offers a rare opportunity to experience Hawaiʻi’s eruptive landscape through three distinct artistic perspectives. More than documentation, these photographs serve as testaments: to nature’s raw power, to cultural reverence, and to the intimate relationship between people and the ʻāina (land) that sustains them. This exhibition invites visitors to reflect on what it means to witness, to remember, and to honor the living volcano at the heart of Kīlauea.
