I am the sole creator of each of my oil paintings. All my paintings are my renditions of actual places or interpretations of natural forms. I paint from photographs which either I or my husband have taken. I apply the paint in thin layers until the desired color saturation is achieved. I enjoy using dramatic color, rich and at times intense. Color harmonies and contrasts push the visual play of light and space in my work. I am awe inspired by nature and am fascinated by naturally occurring patterns. I aim to portray the simple yet complex beauty that surrounds us. I hope my pieces spurn an association with a moment and or place and that they remind the viewer to not only look, but to truly See. I spent my early years growing up in Puna. I was always outdoors lost in nature or in my room drawing on sketch pads. Since then, regardless of where I might be I have remained interested in relaying my vision of the world. I have been painting for roughly twenty years. I graduated from a five year dual degree program with Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 1998.
