Winning a box of crayons for a poster contest in the second grade would be the spark for Carl Mitsumoriʻs love of drawing and creating artwork. Born and raised on the island of Oahu, Carl grew up in Ewa Beach and is of Japanese, Chinese, Hawaiian, and Portuguese heritage. Although Carl has no formal art training, he currently enjoys using several types of media.
Carl has been a bus driver and trainer for Roberts Hawaii since the 1980s. His job allows him to work on the different Hawaiian Islands, visiting and observing places that give him ideas about what he will draw next.
