ʻApapane & ʻŌhiʻa Lehua, Giclée by Yooko Clemmer
ʻApapane – A Hawaiian honey creeper (Himatione sanguinea), with crimson body and black wings and tail, found on all the main Hawaiian Islands. Its feathers occasionally were used for featherwork.
ʻŌhiʻa Lehua – The flower of the ʻōhiʻa tree (Metrosideros macropus, M. collina subsp. polymorpha); also the tree itself. The lehua is the flower of the island of Hawaiʻi.
