L48, Maui Snaring the Sun, giclée by Dietrich Varez

Maui Snaring the Sun, print L48, by Dietrich Varez.  Hawaiian mythology says the sun used to just dash across the sky leaving the people of old with very short days.  At his mother’s request, Maui the demigod caught and slowed the sun to its present pace so that people had more time to get their work done each day.
