He Alo Ahe Alo, print L71, by Dietrich Varez.  The expression means face-to-face and here refers to Kapiolani, one of the first converts to Christianity, defying Pele by eating ‘ohelo berries and reading from scripture, an event which marked the decline of Pele worship.
