Kalo, print M01, by Dietrich Varez. “Kalo” or “taro” is the main staple of the Hawaiian diet. It is the plant from which poi is made. Kalo, being a semi-aquatic plant grows best in muddy environments. There used to be over three hundred varieties. Now, only about seventy remain.
