Situated on Kīlauea volcano the Volcano Art Center (VAC) promotes and perpetuates arts and culture. The dynamic location inspires the sharing of authentic Hula Kahiko performances as well as other arts and traditions of hula. VAC with support from Hawaiʻi Tourism’s Kukulu Ola Program is proud to announce free events which promote and perpetuate Native Hawaiian arts and culture. Join the Volcano Art Center on the second Saturday of each month for a free, live hula performance. At Halau Kaleo a Keahilapalapa we are committed to teaching our students to strive for more beyond the limits one sets for themselves. We believe that Hula uses both the metaphoric and realistic expressions of nature to provide individuals and communities with the knowledge necessary to thrive and grow beyond their present self. By following the principles of hula, we aim to use the chants and dances given to us as a vessel to teach self awareness, discipline, respect, accountability and selfless ambition.
