P.J. Ryan has had a wealth of experiences serving as a park ranger and park historian for 35 years in the National Park Service in a cross section of historical and natural parks across the country. Early on, Mr. Ryan recognized that the NPS could use a bit of humor to counteract the staid bureaucracy of a government agency. So he started an alternative newsletter called Thunderbear, the musings of a ten foot tall, beer drinking, flying bear charged with being the protector of the environment.
