Lauhala Weaving with June Dalde. Hands-on experience of weaving with lauhala, the leaves of a Hala tree. Hala trees are found throughout the islands and very abundant on Hawaiʻi Island. All the lauhala in these projects are handpicked and processed from local trees. The lau (leaves) are prepared and ready to be made into bookmarks, bracelets or ornaments for participants to weave. All materials are provided. This class is free thanks to a grant by Kilohana by Hawaiian Council. Call (808) 967-8222 to register, drop-ins are also welcome.
