Scott Gorrell grew up in Steamboat Springs, CO. and graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art. In Juneau, AK he worked as a self employed commercial artist, designing logos, pen & ink illustrations and paintings. He moved to Hawai; Island in 1994; not finding work in the art field he worked at a resort for 16 years. In 2013 Scott decided to return to making art professionally, at first thinking he would return to his former mainstay, logo design. Not finding much in the commercial line he decided to try fine art. Inspired by the artwork by Calvin Nicholls, a Canadian paper sculpture artist, Scott found his calling. Scott claims “My first paper sculptures were quite simple but over the last eight years they’ve become more elaborate, and time consuming!”
