Bill grew up in the Pacific Northwest and as a teenager found an appreciation for woodwork building furniture and small cabinetry. After returning from service in Vietnam, he was stationed in Hawaii, released from Active Duty, and joined the Army Reserve eventually ending up on the island of Maui. Bill worked with all forms of woodwork including furniture, cabinetry, restoration, custom design, and commission work. Many projects were produced in local woods such as Koa. Bill’s work was featured in the “Mauian” magazine, and by Kapalua Resort. The Maui Visitors Association distributed many of his items of work around the world.
In the mid-nineties, Bill moved to Oregon joining the National Guard, and continued his woodwork. It was there that he started “The Finisher’s Touch.” His work was sought by many for custom design and high-end finish work. Clients included Nordstrom, Macy’s, Saks, Hotels, Yachts, Cruise Ships, and historic homes. Bill exhibited at “Three Days of Aloha” in Ester Short Park in Vancouver Washington and the Oregon Historical Societyʻs “Aloha Days.”
After retiring from the Oregon National Guard, Bill and Carol moved back to Hawaii Island. Active in the community with Cooper Center, Rotary Club, Volcano School of Arts and Sciences, Volcano National Park preservation projects, and the Volcano Art Center, Bill continues woodworking in furniture and art as “Treasures of the Tree.”
