Workshop-Movement

Join Karen Masaki for Dance Imagined on Tuesday mornings from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Class dates are October 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31.

Imagining dance – whatever can be felt or seen with the inner eye is the inspiration for physical movement. Volcano Art Center’s Dance Imagined workshop, with instructor Karen Masaki, encourages exploration and builds strength and fluidity for the pure exhilaration of movement.

The 5-session series will start on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. The one-and-a-half hour class begins with a general warm up, moving through all body parts to get the blood flowing and joints loosened. Explorations of spinal and joint movements, alignment, and breathing help develop greater awareness and physical capacity. Short improvisations inject laughter and fun while stimulating the imagination.

This class is appropriate for all who love to move. No dance experience is necessary and the technique portion will be a basic introduction.  The class ends with a free dance segment, accompanied by a wide range of music, from classical to rock.

Cost for a single class is $20/$15 VAC members or $50 for the entire series (paid in advance) for both VAC members and non-members.
