Palapalai earrings by Melina Castro.
Sterling Silver earrings handcrafted to resemble the shape of the Palapalai fern which is indigenous to Hawai’i. Palapalai is a very important plant in Hawaiian culture, primarily for Hula. It is sacred to the hula goddess Laka and is used in many different lei styles.
“I make each piece of jewelry using traditional metalsmithing techniques such as sawing, piercing, riveting, stamping, soldering and forming. With the use of patinas I give the pieces their rustic-earthy look and weather-worn appearance. All pieces are signed.” – Melina Castro.
The silver used in the making of these earrings is 100% recycled!
