DESCRIPTION:“A Day\, Just Like Any Other Day: Hiroshima’s Little Boy
  and Little Girl” is a short narrative story about a young girl’s un
 expected and unimagined encounter with her destiny as she travels enrout
 e to her school in Hiroshima City. Her destiny unravels generations of a
 mplifying events that would not have otherwise manifested.\nBefore reloc
 ating to Volcano\, David Jones was University Foundation Distinguished P
 rofessor and Professor of Philosophy at Kennesaw State University in Atl
 anta and is now an Affiliate Professor at the University of Hawai‘i at
  Hilo. He is the author/editor of 14 books\, including The Fractal Self:
  Science\, Philosophy\, and the Evolution of Human Cooperation (with Vol
 cano resident John L. Culliney) and The Philosophy of Creative Solitudes
 \, which contains some of his creative writing. In addition\, he is the 
 editor of the international journal Comparative and Continental Philosop
 hy and has been visiting professor of Confucian Classics at Emory and Vi
 siting Scholar at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and S
 ocial Science at National Taiwan University. He is a former recipient of
  the East-West Center’s Distinguished Alumnus Award. His reading “A 
 Day\, Just Like Any Other Day: Hiroshima’s Little Boy and Little Girl
  was originally presented at the Hiroshima Peace Museum and reported i
 n the Asahi Shimbun. He received his doctorate from the University of Ha
 wai‘i at Mānoa.\nThis evening is part of a once-a-month Thursday nigh
 t series at the Volcano Art Center\, focusing on art\, Hawaiian culture\
 , and our environment.  The series is intended to inspire\, enhance you
 r appreciation of art and life experience\, while fostering community co
 nnections. This presentation is free\, although a donation is greatly ap
 preciated.
